Paint media

Is this the place to add media types? eg: watercolo(u)r, acrylic, oil?

Well, not quite. ;) "Painting" is of type Visual Art Form, which categorizes, at a higher level, the form of the finished artwork. Other examples are photography, sculpture, etc. What you're looking for, namely the material or media used to construct a work of art, is covered in the Visual Art Medium type:

You will find watercolor paint, acrylic paint, and oil paint there. Feel free to add other art media!

Visual Art Media

It's under Visual Art Media isn't it? How should the relationship between painting and its subset of media be represented?

Thanks faye. I added my follow up comment before your reply so it looks silly now :)

Ah, you found the type just as I was composing my reply!

The art form is linked to art media (and vice versa) through artworks, without any hierarchy. The Artwork type has properties to capture its art form and art media used, with reverse links back to the artwork. That means if you browse an art medium, you can see a list of artworks using that art medium, and if you look at an art form, such as Painting, you can see a list of paintings that users have entered.

OK, I see your other reply just before I post this -- I'll be the silly one. ;) There may be other users with similar questions, so I'm going to post this yet...hopefully this info is not redundant.
