Hi - I am brand new to freebase and I am NOT a web developer (barely understand what metaweb is). But the *idea* of this site relates to a vision I have had of an interactive community history site, where the history of people and places can be interlinked - For example, I live in Bath Maine, in a house where Johnson Rideout Jr once lived, who was one of the prominent ship designers of the late 1800s. It would be neat to be able to pull up Johnson Rideout's story, and be able to be linked to the house/address where he lived, or to be able to look up the history of a house I was interested in (when was it built? who has lived there?). It would also be great to be able to go from a person's story to their genealogy (parents and children - what became of them, who were they?, birth/death and location dates, sources). The greatest thing about this is that via a metaweb application, this is a community project - where lots of sources and versions of the story can be combined for greater accuracy and a larger historical understanding.
I think the conversation in one of the other areas about relating "time of" to other facts (such as country name, etc) is also applicable - a location doesn't necessarily have just one "name" or one date of significance, nor does a person necessarily have only one "occupation" throughout his/her life.
I think I can experiment with types and domains to try out this concept a bit on some of the data I already have. And I thought thescientist/timeline application has possible applicablity to what I want to accomplish. But I am not sure as a newcomer here as to whether I am thinking of a new *application* or the development of new *types* etc. Plus, since I'm not a developer, I thought perhaps one of you out there in freebase land might be inspired by the idea and work on something like this.
Or, you can tell me I can already do this and I should just dive in and get started!
Thanks for your input...
Brenda
