For the books, I'd suggest something more generic, along the lines of &amp;quot;written work&amp;quot;, since the written sources should include poems and plays (and possibly prose works? I can't recall for sure, now). </content>

    <content type="html">&lt;p&gt;hi skud,&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;I'll get to your comments in the football domain but want to thank you for your comments (both here and in the relevant types).&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;I guess I wasn't really angling for an admin role (although would love to be paid to do this! :P) but mainly that I've been using Freebase for 1 1/2 years (only really adding data for the last week though in anger!) and have been active in my space (Scottish football) for 5 years and a computer programmer for 14 years.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;I do want to prove myself as competent, and have started a &amp;quot;scottish football&amp;quot; domain and will start to define types in there that I think work for football, as you say.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;At the same time, I don't want to annoy people by posting a load of messages to domains that didn't appear to being looked after, but you've answered that above. &lt;/p&gt;</content>

    <content type="html">&lt;p&gt;I guess to me on first look, any type that has no properties (but forces you to include another type on the item which fulfils the same purpose) is pointless, but I also see why that may be a bit harsh on it too.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Football organisation's tend to be silly (if I'm being honest), as they tend not to look after all the competitions in a given country (from Scotland for example): &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;* The Scottish FA, only look after the internation team, and the cup competition&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;* The Scottish Football League, look after the lower leagues, and the league cup&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&amp;nbsp;* The Scottish Premier League, only look after the top division&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Also, UEFA has &amp;quot;members&amp;quot; (the countries assocation), as does FIFA, whereas the &amp;quot;sports association&amp;quot; doesn't have these properties (only teams).&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Football is such a specific sport that it deserves it's own type, but feel that is should extend the given type (sports association in this case), rather than require both to be added...&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Still not sure of the best way of explaining this in words like this, if that makes sense! &lt;/p&gt;</content>

I already replied to a bunch of your comments in the football domain but I wanted to clarify a few things here.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;First up, danm and aseem were the admins on the football domain but they don't have much time to work on it.&amp;nbsp; So cheunger and I have become admins there and we can now make changes to the schema.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Generally we don't appoint admins who don't have schema modelling experience on Freebase as it's easy to break things horribly if you're not careful.&amp;nbsp; So if you'd like to become an admin in this domain the way to move towards that would be to work on some modeling in your own private user domain(s), and get the hang of how our schema editor works, and so on.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;However, we could make you an &amp;quot;Expert&amp;quot; in the football domain, which allows you to make changes to documentation in the domain and recognises your knowledge in the area. &lt;/p&gt;</content>

I've run into the issue of TV shows not being in the Film category, which leads to my question.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Is there a possibility of a data type that tracks home video releases? This would be a sub-type for both Film and TV shows. I realize that may be a lot of work, so it might be far down the road, but I thought I'd suggest it.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Overall freebase is a fantastic service. I really hope to see it take off in a big way. &lt;/p&gt;</content>

    <content type="html">&lt;p&gt;Thanks for the information.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;I'm also a computer programmer (broad term I know!), so I'm interested in this from many angles one of which is how to get my data in here (for others) and then to use it from my own site to keep it fresh (from others).&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;I'll keep doing what I'm doing, but already finding duplicate types listed for some items, and trying not to become too frustrated, and to help out like you said.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Past team rosters are one thing, but also past competitions seem to be neglected (in my interested area) which I'm trying to think about how to correct.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;One question, is it best to suggest specific types (football/soccer) ones from the existing types (which seem to be great for NBA, MLB, etc) or to suggest changes to the existing &amp;quot;sports&amp;quot; types? &lt;br /&gt; &lt;/p&gt;</content>

    <content type="html">&lt;p&gt;You're right - a good way to start contributing is by exactly what you've been doing.&amp;nbsp; Start with a post to get the /soccer admins (and hopefully others) involved.&amp;nbsp; There are some current schema issues that are outstanding, one of which happens to be how to represent past team rosters.&amp;nbsp; Posting suggestions for changes will at least get the ball rolling.&amp;nbsp; Additionally, you can broadcast harder schema related problems to a wider audience by joining the data-modeling list (&lt;a href="http://lists.freebase.com/"&gt;here&lt;/a&gt;)&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;As for the suggestions from 2007, I don't know what the blockage is/was.&amp;nbsp; It could be some combination of dropping the ball, lost interest, no follow-up, no time and/or no resolution.&amp;nbsp; I'll have to research further what these suggestions were and queue them up, if appropriate.&amp;nbsp; However, I hope this won't stop you from posting your suggestions; community input is invaluable, even if it's just commenting/critiquing other people's suggestion. &amp;nbsp; &lt;/p&gt;</content>

    <content type="html">&lt;p&gt;Well... detyping a type from a topic is not necessarily &amp;quot;clean&amp;quot;.&amp;nbsp; If a topic is erronously typed with property values, the cleanest way is to detype is to remove all the property values first and then detype the type.&amp;nbsp; Otherwise, you get property artifacts left behind (the link between the topic and the property/value is not unlinked).&amp;nbsp; As an example. see my topic on &lt;a href="http://sandbox.freebase.com/tools/explore/guid/9202a8c04000641f80000000072fec4e"&gt;sandbox&lt;/a&gt; - I typed myself as a location, added a containment, then detyped without removing property values.&amp;nbsp; &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;We're trying to get clean detyping functionality into the client soon, as well as have backend validators run periodically.&amp;nbsp; However, in the meantime, I advocate removing property values first before detyping.&lt;/p&gt;</content>

    <content type="html">&lt;p&gt;It looks like there are two problems here: one an unclear UI, and the other an actual possible bug.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;The bit about creating episode numbers as new is because the episode numbers are just text values, not actual topics; the &amp;ldquo;1&amp;rdquo; for the first episode is not going to be reconciled with an existing topic called &amp;ldquo;1.&amp;rdquo; The UI should be clearer about what is happening with text and number values, however.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;The bit about the episode numbers not taking is a real problem.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;I will add both of these issues to our bug tracking system. &lt;/p&gt;</content>

    <content type="html">It also seems that when one imports a list of episodes to a season, only existing episodes save the episode number, if you add a new episode, the episode numbers appear to be deleted. And when you import episodes to a TV series, none of the episode numbers are saved.</content>

    <content type="html">When you import a list of episodes to a tv series or season, once you've reconciled all of the episodes, on the next page it says the episodes will be reconciled with existing episode etc., but all the episode numbers are going to be created as new topics. And on the next page, it says they've been created, and the links go back to the home page.</content>

    <content type="html">It also appears to be a problem on the actor, character and season pages (and presumably any more where they appear), except in those cases, no More button is available, but if you go to&amp;nbsp;&lt;a href="/view/guid/9202a8c04000641f80000000090cd432"&gt;Stargate SG-1 Season 8&lt;/a&gt;&amp;nbsp;for example, Richard Dean Anderson is in that season, but on the list he's no in season 7, but if you go to season 7, season 8 isn't listed, if you get my drift.</content>

    <content type="html">When an actor has appeared regularly in more than six seasons of a show, they don't all show up automatically, only the first six show up, you have to press More to see the rest. But this means when you edit them, only the first six appear in the edit box, the others aren't visible. eg.&amp;nbsp;&lt;a href="/view/en/stargate_sg-1"&gt;Stargate SG-1&lt;/a&gt;&amp;nbsp;for Richard Dean Anderson</content>

I guess I missed that one.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;I agree with you on Musical Artist, I overlooked the fact that it is a broader term than Musician. For now, its probably safe to just leave it out but at some point in the future I'd like to tie some of these topics to UMBEL&amp;nbsp;&lt;a href="http://umbel.org/sc_ne.html"&gt;subject concepts&lt;/a&gt;&amp;nbsp;so that the &amp;quot;Musical Artist&amp;quot; type would be equivalent to a &amp;quot;Musical Performer&amp;quot; topic which would map to what they call the &amp;quot;MusicPerformanceAgent&amp;quot; subject concept.&lt;/p&gt;</content>

    <content type="html">&lt;p&gt;Now time for me to nitpick on behalf of some of my types.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Why is &lt;a href="/view/guid/9202a8c04000641f8000000000133e62"&gt;Constitutional Convention&lt;/a&gt; equivalent to &lt;a href="/view/government/election"&gt;&lt;em&gt;Election&lt;/em&gt;&lt;/a&gt;? That&amp;rsquo;s wrong.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;I don&amp;rsquo;t think a &lt;a href="/view/en/musician"&gt;Musician&lt;/a&gt; is equivalent to a &lt;a href="/view/music/artist"&gt;&lt;em&gt;Musical Artist&lt;/em&gt;&lt;/a&gt;; a musical artist may be a band or a DJ. Recording artist would be a better equivalent, but there isn&amp;rsquo;t really a topic for that notion in Freebase.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Otherwise, all of the domains for which I&amp;rsquo;m an administrator look good. &lt;/p&gt;</content>
