It's slowly being replaced by motion capture, but there are all the Jim Henson films (and tv shows), Yoda by Frank Oz in the original trilogy of Star Wars, etc.

Oh, goodness, no! It is silly to say that a short story stars Jesse Ventura and Mick Fleetwood, and equally silly to say that a film is in a collection of short stories. In general, we avoid this kind of conflation, and use the Adapted Work and Adaptation types to connect them. It’s also worth noting that this particular film is actually based on both the story and a French film, something that would not be true of the original story. The separation also allows users to have one a a favorite but not the other, and to allow comments to be clear on their actual subject.

I was searching for upcoming movies using MQL, found the two entires, also saw they had the same release date, so I manually looked them up by there keys. Also, I'm guessing that whenever dupes are found they should always be flagged for merge not delete, correct?

Hey, I just went to flag this for merge, and in fact it's just the one topic! It has multiple keys in Freebase, though, so it can be referred to by different URLs. The two URLs you cite are just different ways of getting to the same page.

May I ask how you managed to happen across these two URLs and think they were different pages? There might be some kind of error in our system that led to this misunderstanding.

Hey, I joined freebase not too long ago and have been using it to build an app that lets users mark which films they have watched or own on dvd or blu-ray. I've run into the issue of TV shows not being in the Film category, which leads to my question.

Is there a possibility of a data type that tracks home video releases? This would be a sub-type for both Film and TV shows. I realize that may be a lot of work, so it might be far down the road, but I thought I'd suggest it.

Overall freebase is a fantastic service. I really hope to see it take off in a big way.

The more I think about it, the less I'm comfortable with the denormalization. I think we should model for the large majority of cases, and just use the CVT for now. (Stuff can always be added later, if there turns out to be a demand after we start getting journal articles in any kind of quantity.)
