vtalwar: well, it doesn't hurt, and it'll happen any way by inference once you actually *use* the delegated properties.

That is, if you have a type, "baroque musician" and borrow "date of birth" from /people/person and "date of death" from /people/deceased_person, without including those types, then the first time someone enters in a new musician and fills in the dates of birth and death, the topic will become co-typed at that point.

I think the "Chef" type is a good general one that should be worked on. I'm going to try building it out a little, then see if we can move it into a commons domain. I might create some associated types while I'm at it, like a CVT for a chef's association with restaurants over time. Kake and I discussed this on IM one time.

Is this domain still active? I'd really like to contribute but there's some things I think I would have modeled differently. For instance, I'm not sure the Chef type belongs in this domain. Also, I would have structured it so that Iron Chef America data could fit in (although this is YOUR domain, so that's not a flaw, just maybe a difference in perspective).

There is also an awesome website, and I'd love to ask the author for permission to take his Iron Chef catalog and load it in here.

The stuff I told you about -- "delegated properties" -- hasn't been exposed via the UI yet, so you can't do this yet. But I will let you know when we release that feature, which should be RSN.

That's close -- there aren't really "parent" and "child" types in Freebase. But what you can do is create an "Iron Chef chef" type (hopefully you can come up with a better name) that will have the property for "Dishes created". If you add this type as an included type on the "Iron Chef" and "Iron Chef Challenger" types, it will get added whenever you create a new chef or challenger. But just be aware that it doesn't work in reverse: If you create a new chef or challenger via the "Creator" property on "Dish", you will need to add the appropriate Chef/Challenger type to the new creator by hand.

Ty Semaka has been designing posters, CD artwork, and T-shirts for the OpenBSD project. He has also been writing songs for the project. CDs of his music are distributed by the OpenBSD project, making them both a software project and a music publisher/record label.

The MusicBrainz data has "OpenBSD" as the musical group for this album, but I think it's more accurate to say that the album is by Ty Semaka and published/distributed by the OpenBSD project. In particular, I think the MusicBrainz data should be attached to the OpenBSD software project (which I've cotyped as a Record Label).

Yeah. There are two Linux objects. One is a Game Platform, Software, Topic, etc. The other is an Operating System, Computing System, etc. The second one should be assimilated into the first one because the first one has a short URL (the other one uses a large ID). This could happen with other platforms, too, although I haven't checked just yet. How can one fix this?

I can think of a few examples.

Fighting games can sometimes have characters that are encounterable, but not playable. The most recent example I can think of is Ridley, Meta Ridley, Master Hand, and Crazy Hand in Super Smash Bros Brawl. Sometimes boss characters (like Geese in Fatal Fury) will be unplayable, though they might become playable in a later installment of a series.

Some character are known to make non-playable, cameo appearances, like Link and Samus in Super Mario RPG, or Mario in Punch Out.

The DS Lite is just a newer form factor for the DS. There should be no difference in compatibility as far as software goes. It's pretty much the relationship between the Game Boy and the Game Boy Pocket and Game Boy Light; different form, but runs the same software. Another example would be the Sega Genesis and the Sega Nomad.

From these examples alone, I could see the virtue in somehow identifying the different hardware revisions of a given system. There are also multiple incarnations of the NES, Super NES and Genesis. From a collector's standpoint, it would be useful to distinguish between these separate hardware designs. Perhaps another type is in order?

I would probably make the platform Wii, since that's the system that the data is tailored for. I think stuff like Virtual Console would be best described as a distribution mechanism. Perhaps a property for that would be advisable.

As for WiiWare, I would agree. Xbox Live Arcade is listed as a platform, though, and should be changed if WiiWare is also not a platform.

Definitely a distribution channel. The platform is the Wii. Wiiware is a delivery mechanism to allow on e to purchase/download to play on the Wii.
