    <content type="html">&lt;p&gt;I think a safer bet would be country of production.&amp;nbsp; Much like wine, the properties of the product come from the location: the grass the cow/sheep/goat eats, the local water and molds.&amp;nbsp; We wouldn't call an Oregon pinot noir a French wine even if modeled on Burgundy or a Napa sparkling wine a Champagne even if made in the m&amp;eacute;thode champenoise.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;This would be particularly true in the case of &amp;quot;Swiss&amp;quot; cheese made in Wisconsin or more subtly in a Mt Tam which is arguably similar to a French St Andre.&amp;nbsp; Both this &amp;quot;Swiss&amp;quot; and Mt Tam are American cheeses. &amp;nbsp; &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;In the case of Babybel, I believe it is made in both a &amp;quot;Cheddar&amp;quot; (English) and &amp;quot;Emmental&amp;quot; (Swiss) variety to make matters even more confusing.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Anyway, I vote for country of production when determining national origin of cheese.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Sure - I'll be an admin. It'll be good practice for bringing Cowgirl Creamery onboard in January.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;j &lt;/p&gt;</content>
