This has been rolling around in my head for a couple weeks too because I'm interested in laws and regulations pertaining to bioenergy production and their effects on ecological systems. It would be nice to develop a Freebase version of something like this: http://law.jrank.org/ that could be used to cross-reference existing case law and it's applications. For example, see &lt;a href="http://law.jrank.org/pages/5503/Computer-Assisted-Legal-Research.html"&gt;Computer assisted legal research&amp;nbsp; - recent developments&lt;/a&gt;. It would be nice to store all existing laws in a way that allows citizens to actually find and access them!&lt;/p&gt;</content>

    <content type="html">&lt;p&gt;&lt;p&gt;In doing the typing for the topics that were brought in from Wikipedia, I came across large lists of things that were:&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;- Acts of Congress, i.e. laws passed in the United States&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;- Decisions by various courts.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;This is great stuff to be able to search, it would be cool to have types in Freebase for these Topics &lt;/p&gt;&lt;/p&gt;</content>

    <content type="html">&lt;p&gt;I was just adding some topics to this type and noticed that the &lt;a href="/view/new_zealand_constitution"&gt;New Zealand Constitution&lt;/a&gt; is not a single document, but consists of a bunch of acts of parliament and other legal decisions which, in aggregate, form the constitution.  The article suggests that the UK and Israel are in a similar situation.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
In those cases, it seems that constitutional amendments wouldn't apply.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
I wonder how many countries have amendments to their constitutions and how many don't?  Australia and Canada both have them, but you don't much hear them talked about.  See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amendments_to_the_Constitution_of_Canada for example.&lt;/p&gt;</content>

    <content type="html">&lt;p&gt;Patent names are an interesting puzzle. In almost all cases, even in conversation, patents are referred to by number not title. Titles are not unique and are more like short descriptions. Patents only refer to other patents by number, so most lawyers you don't even know the title. All this is starting to sound like the number its the name, especially if we adopt the international convention most countries affixing a two-letter to the numbers to identify the country ie:  US6309467, JP11168076-A, DE19741465-A1, EP905796-B1 etc.
