Domains
Freebase includes public domains, known as the Freebase Commons, and personal domains. Any registered user make use of the types in the Freebase Commons for their own topics, add topics to a type, or add property information to topics, but only domain Administrators can create or edit types and properties.
Personal domains, and their types and topics, can be created by any registered user. Users can set their domains to be in the Draft or Published states. In the Draft state, the domain's types and topics will not be included in autocomplete suggestions, the domain will not be listed in the Freebase categories, and any of its types that are added to other topics will not be visible to other users unless they have navigated to that topic by clicking on that type name within the draft domain. A personal domain can be shared with other users by sending them a link to it. All registered users are automatically given a personal domain called [username]'s types, which is permanently set to Draft mode; types created here must be moved to a new domain before they can be published. When a user changes a domain to the Published state, its types and topics become available for autocomplete, it gets listed with other Freebase domains, and other users can add topics to it or add its types to topics of their own. For more information see the help topic Creating and Publishing Personal Domains. (Note that data stored in personal domains is not private ; other people can access it through MQL, the Freebase API. As described in the contribution guidelines, Freebase is for topics of shared interests, not for personal data.)
