During the 2006/2007 term, the District served 262,616 students. The district covers a total of 273 institutions: 138 elementary schools, 42 middle schools, 32 high schools, 6 adult/vocational schools, 10 centers, and 45 charter schools, with one high school under construction (Malibu Bay, in Pembroke Pines).
