David McVicar (1967, Glasgow) is a Scottish opera and theatre director. He studied at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama. In 2007 The Independent ranked him among the 100 most influential gay and lesbian people in Britain. McVicar's productions of Faust, Die Zauberflöte and Rigoletto at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, and his Carmen and much-acclaimed Giulio Cesare at Glyndebourne, are all available on DVD. full article at wikipedia
