Doña Ana County is a county located in the U.S. state of New Mexico. As of 2000, the population was 174,682. Its county seat is Las Cruces, also the largest city in the county and second-largest in New Mexico. Smaller towns in the county include Mesilla, Doña Ana, Hatch, and Organ. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 3,815 square mile (9,880 km²), of which, 3,807 square miles (9,861 km²) of it is land and 7 square miles (19 km²) of it (0.20%) is water.
