Matthew the Evangelist (מתי/מתתיהו, "Gift of the LORD", Standard Hebrew and Tiberian Hebrew: Mattay or Mattiyahu; Septuagint Greek: Ματθαίος, Matthaios, Modern Greek: Ματθαίος [Matthaíos]), most often called Saint Matthew, is a Christian figure, and one of Jesus' Twelve Apostles.
