Born and raised in Alberta, Canada, Oldring has been performing in comedy clubs since his teens. A graduate of Montreal's National Theatre School of Canada, a sister school of Juilliard, Oldring also has extensive sketch comedy background, which prepared him for his various roles on Blue Collar TV.
