Phillips Holmes (July 22, 1907, Grand Rapids, Michigan - August 12, 1942, Ontario, Canada) was a movie star of the 1930s. Son of stage star Taylor Holmes, Phillips enjoyed a privileged childhood and received his education at Princeton University, Trinity College, and in Paris. Holmes made his screen debut in 1928. From there, he became a major star, although he was often typecast.
