Punjabi ( in Gurmukhi script, in Shahmukhi script, in transliteration) is an Indo-Aryan language spoken by inhabitants of the historical Punjab region (now split between India and Pakistan) and their diaspora. Speakers include adherents of the religions of Islam, Sikhism, and Hinduism. By a conservative classification of its member dialects (excluding Siraiki), it has over 90 million native speakers, which makes it the 11th most widely spoken language in the world.
