Robert Abbott (born 1933) is an American game inventor. Abbott was an early computer programmer, working with IBM 360 assembly language. He turned his hand to designing games from 1962. He had an affection for striped shirts, admiring their linear design which appealed to his sense of logic and order.Among the games he has designed are the chess variant Baroque chess (also known as Ultima); the card game Eleusis; and the game Crossings and Epaminondas.
