RoboCop 3 is a science fiction film, released in 1993, set in the near future in a dystopia metropolitan Detroit, Michigan, and filmed in Atlanta, Georgia. Most of the abandoned buildings seen in the film were slated for demolition to make way for facilities for the 1996 Olympics. It is the sequel to the 1990 film RoboCop 2.
The film was directed by Fred Dekker, a director primarily known for cult horror films. Popular graphic novelist, Frank Miller, returned to write the screenplay for the film. The star of the previous films, Peter Weller, could not reprise his role (due to scheduling conflicts with Naked Lunch, as well as being tired of reprising his role due to how cumbersome and exhausting it was to wear the suit) and thus it was left up to Robert John Burke to play the cyborg character for him.
