Salvage 1 is an American science fiction series that aired for 16 episodes (of the 20 produced) on ABC during 1979. The pilot film aired on January 20, 1979 to high ratings. Noted science fiction author Isaac Asimov served as the show's scientific advisor. Pilot (Parts 1 & 2) (20 January 1979): Harry Broderick (Andy Griffith), owns the Jettison Scrap and Salvage Company, a specialist in reclaiming trash and junk in order to sell that as scrap. However, his dream is to recover equipment left on the moon during Apollo Program missions. With that purpose, he invites former astronaut Addison "Skip" Carmichael (Joel Higgins) and NASA fuel expert Melanie "Mel" Slozar (Trish Stewart) and establishes a team. He builds a spaceship called Vulture completely made of junk and powered by a chemical called mono-hydrazine.
