"The Foot" is the third episode of the HBO original series, Six Feet Under. It was the third episode for the show's first season. The episode was written by Bruce Eric Kaplan and was directed by John Patterson. It originally aired on Sunday June 17, 2001. At breakfast, Nate decides that they should sell the business to Kroehner seeing as their buyout offer is quite generous and Nate does not want to pursue a career option as a funeral director. David feels betrayed seeing as Ruth and Claire side with Nate. David angrily gives Nate permission to call Gilardi of their decision. However at the meeting, Nate discovers that he actually wants to be a funeral director to keep the business alive and reconsiders selling the home. When Nate tells David his sudden revelation, he is somewhat relieved but also angered since Nate is still making all of the decisions.
