War Machine (James Rupert Rhodes) is a fictional character, a comic book superhero from the Marvel Comics universe. The character first appeared in Iron Man #118 (January 1979), and was created by David Michelinie and Bob Layton.
Actor Terrence Howard portrays James Rhodes in the 2008 live action film, Iron Man. In one scene, Rhodes looks at a silver-colored Iron Man suit (actually an abandoned prototype of Tony's own armor) as if considering donning it and says, "...next time, baby."
