Robert Woodson "Wood" Hite (circa 1856-1882) was a first cousin of Frank and Jesse James. With his brother Clarence, Hite joined the James gang in [Logan County, Kentucky] where their mother Nancy gave safe housing for the gang. Wood was killed in 1882 by Robert Ford, the man who eventually killed Jesse James. The killing of Wood led to Ford's arrest where he made a deal with Governor Thomas T. Crittenden; he would be pardoned for the murder of Hite if he were to capture or kill James. Ford...
