Jackson County is a county in the U.S. state of Michigan. In 2000, its population was 158,422 with the 2007 Census Bureau placing the population at 163,006. This county is the sole county in the Jackson Metropolitan Statistical Area. The county seat is Jackson. It is named for U.S. President Andrew Jackson. It is considered to be one of Michigan's "Cabinet counties", named for members of Jackson's Cabinet.
