Bonjour Tristesse is a 1958 film made by Otto Preminger productions and released by Columbia Pictures. It was directed and produced by Otto Preminger with John Palmer as associate producer from a screenplay by Arthur Laurents based on the novel of the same title by Françoise Sagan. The film starred Deborah Kerr, David Niven, Jean Seberg with Mylène Demongeot, Geoffrey Horne, Juliette Gréco, Walter Chiari, Martita Hunt and Roland Culver. The setting is the French Riviera. The film tells the story of Cécile (Jean Seberg), a decadent young girl who lives with her rich playboy father, Raymond (David Niven). When Anne (Deborah Kerr), Raymond's old love interest, comes to Raymond's villa, Cécile is afraid for her way of life. Helped by Elsa (Mylène Demongeot), her father's mistress, Cécile does her best to break up the relationship. Despite his promises of fidelity to Anne, Raymond cannot give up his lifestyle.
