"The Great Escape" was the eight episode of the HBO series Tanner '88 to air. It originally aired on June 20, 1988.
In this episode, Jack and his staff are having a mock Presidential debate in order to prep Jack for the upcoming one. At the debate, Jack makes waves with his stance on the War on Drugs and his criticism of candidate Jesse Jackson.
Later on, there seems to be trouble on Jack's plane flight, and he and his staffers go through a minor panic. Meanwhile, reporter David Seidelman discovers Jack's relationship with Dukakis staffer Joanna Buckley.
Luckily, the problem on the plane is solved, and they land to find that the press has already learned of Jack and Joanna's relationship. Jack's staff is bombarded by press, and he leaves by helicopter to go give a speech.
