Rodney Brooks is the Panasonic Professor of Robotics at MIT. He is also the Director of the MIT Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory; Director of the MIT Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory; and the Chief Technical officer of iRobot Corporation. Prior to joining the faculty of MIT in 1984, he was involved in research at Carnegie Mellon University and MIT. He was also a member of the faculty at Stanford University. He is the author of Flesh and Machines: How Robots Will Change Us (2002).
Dr. Brooks is concerned with engineering robots and humanoid robots. His publications includes works on the following topics:
