Menckeneanea: A Schimpflexikon is a collection of articles and quotations denouncing H. L. Mencken, collected and arranged by Mencken himself. The word “schimpflexikon” is from the German language, which Mencken spoke fluently; it means, roughly, a dictionary of disgrace. Since Mencken was, in his day and later, a highly controversial figure, many of the quotations in the book are highly vituperative. Among the writers quoted or excerpted is William Allen White. The book was printed in a very small edition, and is considered a rarity today. full article at wikipedia
