Murali Krishna Thalluri (born 4 August 1984) is an Australia film director, writer and producer. Born in Canberra to India-born parents, he moved to Adelaide where he attended Rostrevor College before completing his education at University Senior College. Thalluri's first feature film 2:37 was completed when he was 21 years old, without any formal training and financed via private funding. It was screened at a number of international film festivals including the Cannes Film Festival, the Melbourne International Film Festival, the Toronto International Film Festival and the Tokyo International Film Festival. Thalluri became the subject of controversy in the media shortly after the Australian theatrical release of 2:37. Thalluri had claimed his film was a personal tale inspired by his own suicide attempt and by a close female friend who allegedly committed suicide, to whom the film is dedicated.
