Edward Bruce Tinsley (born 1958 in Louisville, Kentucky) is a cartoonist, best known for his conservative comic strip Mallard Fillmore.
Bruce Tinsley attended Indiana University with a degree in government. He then worked for various newspapers as a reporter. He began his cartoon career as an editorial cartoonist for The Daily Progress in the 1980s. While a cartoonist there, he was asked to create a character for the paper's entertainment section. After several rejects, Mallard Fillmore was accepted, and made his debut in 1991. Mallard was later syndicated in 1994, through King Features Syndicate. Tinsley was arrested for DUI on December 4, 2006 in Columbus, Indiana, with a blood-alcohol level of 0.14, almost twice the legal limit in Indiana, according to the Columbus Sheriff's Department.
