| OVERVIEW |
Enterprises and government organizations are amassing terabytes of data into
networked storage environments as they seek to improve access to information
and simplify network management. By nature, these storage networks do not
provide boundaries to partition data from different groups, departments or users,
leaving information aggregated and highly vulnerable to unauthorized access.
Decru, a NetApp company (NASDAQ: NTAP), develops storage security solutions
to address critical business requirements, including data privacy, regulatory
compliance, intellectual property protection, and internal controls. Decru was
founded in 2001, and provides security solutions to many of the world's largest
enterprise and government customers.
|
| MARKET DRIVERS |
There are a number of trends driving storage security requirements:
 |
Insider Threat:
While organizations have spent billions on perimeter
security measures, research shows that a significant percentage of
attacks come from inside the firewall.
|
 |
Storage Consolidation:
Data consolidation projects continue to aggregate
data into networked storage environments, removing physical barriers and
increasing the stakes if there is a breach.
|
 |
Replication:
Because of backup and disaster recovery programs, multiple
copies of data are made. These copies are frequently distributed outside
the datacenter, significantly increasing the number of access points.
|
 |
Outsourcing:
As organizations seek to control costs and improve efficiency,
they are increasing outsourcing IT functions, resulting in company outsiders
with access to data.
|
 |
Regulatory Compliance:
A growing number of privacy regulations, such as
Gramm-Leach-Bliley (GLBA), California's SB1386, and the Health Insurance
Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), are putting pressure on organizations
to ensure the privacy of the data they capture and maintain.

|
| FEATURES |
Decru DataFort® storage security appliances protect data at rest and in flight from
unauthorized access. Key benefits include:
 |
Military-Grade security.
Decru DataFort combines AES-256 encryption,
secure access controls, layered authentication, and key management with a
hardened architecture specifically designed to protect data in SAN, NAS,
DAS, iSCSI, and mainframe and open systems tape backup environments.
|
 |
Wire-speed throughput.
Decru's Storage Encryption Processor (SEP) is the
heart of DataFort, fully optimized for multi-gigabit speed, full duplex
encryption. Because encryption is done in silicon, DataFort can be deployed
into high performance storage networks without performance degradation.
|
 |
Transparency.
Decru DataFort is designed to interoperate with the existing
network infrastructure, working seamlessly with existing applications,
servers, switches and storage devices. Its operation is completely
transparent to the user, making it easy to install and administer.
|
|
| CUSTOMERS |
Decru has been shipping Decru DataFort appliances for over three years, and
has customers on three continents in sectors including financial services,
healthcare, telecommunications, media, semiconductors, aerospace,
manufacturing, and government.
|
| CERTIFICATIONS |
Decru's SEP, clustering and key management been validated by the National
Institute for Standards and Technology (NIST) for compliance with FIPS 140-2
level 3 (Cert #439). DataFort's AES-256, SHA-256 and SHA-512 encryption
implementations have also been validated. Decru DataFort has been certified
by the US Department of Defense for compliance with DoD 5015.2, for secure
records management. Decru has engaged a lab for Common Criteria
certification, and is targeting EAL4+, with an additional evaluation by the NSA.
