Kevin Fong is a veteran Silicon Valley venture capitalist with almost two decades of experience. He has provided leadership to Mayfield since 1988, during which time he has groomed a new generation of Mayfield leadership and mentored scores of CEOs. Kevin has a broad and deep investment focus in the communications, wireless, semiconductor, software and consumer media sectors.
Kevin's notable past investments include Alantec, Crescendo Communications, Latitude, Legato, Mobile 365, Redback Networks and Tasman Networks. Kevin currently sits on the boards of 3PARdata (where he serves as non-executive chairman), Fultec, Hammerhead Systems, Mendocino Software, ONStor and Velocity11.
Kevin leads Mayfield's China-based strategy and investments. As one of the most respected ethnic Chinese venture capitalists in the Silicon Valley, Kevin has a track record of working with Chinese entrepreneurs. Currently he is actively involved with LatticePower, an LED provider; SMIT, a microelectronics company; and SportsGG, a sports betting company. He is a board member of Hua Yuan Science and Technology Association (HYSTA) and an advisor to the Asian Venture Capital Journal (AVCJ). He is a frequent speaker on Asian market trends including recent appearances at the AVCJ annual conference, Dow Jones Asia conference and the HYSTA annual dinner. Prior to joining Mayfield, Kevin was an operating executive at David Systems, a networking company, Hewlett Packard and Nortel/Bell Northern Research.
Kevin earned an M.B.A. and M.S. in electrical engineering from Stanford University and a B.S. in electrical engineering from U.C. Berkeley.
