Using Property Hints

Property hints appear when a user is adding data through the interface. A property hint can be accessed by clicking on the 'What do I input?' link or icon. By default this displays the expected type to input for the property - but the administrator for that type can also write specialized help content to assist the user in better understanding what to enter.

Figure 1. Multiple Property Hints

In this example there are property hints for each of the inputs. The image illustrates the different cases, where specific help text has been added and where it has not.

The 'mediator' referenced is another name for a compound value type, a property that links to a type that is a collection of other properties.

Figure 2. Defining a property hint
Property hints are added from the Type editor interface. Simply click to 'add' or 'edit' a property description (assuming you have the permissions to do so). The text you input will be displayed when the user clicks 'What do I input?' for that property.
