Hudiksvall is a city (pop. 15,000) in Hälsingland, Sweden and the seat of Hudiksvall Municipality, Gävleborg County. It is sometimes known as Glada Hudik (Happy Hudik). The town was founded by King John III of Sweden, who had the inhabitants moved from the town Hudiksvall to the shores of the bay, and granted it its charter in 1582.
