Dr. Sharad Mehrotra, President and Chief Executive Officer of
Fabric7, leads the company with over 20 years of experience in a broad
range of technology roles including start-up formation, network
equipment design, processor architecture, and ASIC design. Prior to
co-founding Fabric7, Dr. Mehrotra served as Entrepreneur-in-Residence
at New Enterprise Associates, where he worked with the founding team to
develop the key technology and market concepts that underlie the
foundations of Fabric7.
Dr. Mehrotra was also the principal Founder, Chairman and CEO of
Procket Networks, a high-end networking startup that he organized in
1999. At Procket, Dr. Mehrotra led the company from its inception
through three successful rounds of funding, raising a total of $272
million in venture funding. That company was acquired by Cisco Systems.
Previously, as an architect at Sun Microsystems, Dr. Mehrotra was an
early contributor to the architecture of the UltraSPARC-V
microprocessor, and a staff engineer in the processor architecture
group. He also served as an ASIC design engineer and consultant for
Silicon Systems, Inc.
Dr. Mehrotra holds four degrees in Electrical Engineering and
Computer Science, including a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the
University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a Masters in Computer
Engineering from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. During his
career, he has been granted 10 U.S. patents, and his findings have been
published in various technical publications.
