Yes, this is in the works

  1.
    1. Not sure how soon we will be able to provide tabular views that work more or less as you describe, but we are definitely planning to support them.

      1. It would be nice to have an update on when this feature might be added.   Frankly, it is the killer reason that is stopping me promoting Freebase within the research community that I work in (environmental modelling).  If I knew it was coming in (say) the next 3 months, then I'd be prepared to commit the time populating some Types with more Topics, and inviting others to do likewise.   But if not, not.

Happily to engage in an offline discussion if you'd like more detailed thoughts on this request.

      2. Now that we have finished work on the new topic view, we are turning our design attention to updating the type filter page. Our plan is to display data on this page in a tabular format, with column headings for each of the properties that can be sorted and filtered upon. We hope to have this functionality available sometime in May if not before. As these designs become more mature, we'll definitely post them to the Freebase blog to solicit input and reactions.

      3. That's great, Dan, glad to hear that it's in hand.

My original posting suggested having columns for Topic metadata (creator, creation date, etc).   I agree that including Type properties, as you indicate, is equally desirable.   Having both will potentially lead to quite a large number of columns in the table.   I guess this will require that the user has the choice as to which metadata properties and Type properties are actually displayed as coumns in the table - existing columns can be hidden, and hidden columns opened up.

Perhaps thought can be given to increasing the amount of page width available - perhaps allowing the Filter area to be minimised?

      4. Hi Robert, an update - we are definitely incorporating all of these ideas into what we're building. Its getting closer to being ready - I'd guess it should be available in mid May. Cheers.

      5. Thanks for keeping me informed.   If you'd like me to have a look before you release it, I'd be happy to oblige.

      6. Hi Robert, we're doing usability testing on this feature now. Would you be available at any time in the next few days for 45 minutes or so to do a screenshare test with us?  I'll see if I can drum up an email address for you as well -- would love to get you involved.

        - Dan

      7. This would be an extremely useful feature
