Weapons

    1. Seconding aseem's suggestion for 'military weaponry.' Don't know if there's another domain that would be more appropriate, but there aren't any types for weapons. Might be nice to have type that covers producer, caliber, force/nation of original use or active use, range, clip size, what have you.

Maybe a weapons domain could work- there're certainly enough varieties out there. I just noticed that Smith & Wesson didn't have any type associated with it (not the company, the model 10) and thought it was sad.

      1. Schemata for weapons are certainly a good idea. I can't say offhand whether there would need to be a single, separate weapons domain, or whether there should be separate domains for different kinds of weapons (firearms, swords, bombs, whatever), but that's a fairly minor issue. The big issue is creating schemata for them. If this is an area you are knowledgeable about, I'd encourage you to take a stab at it (as it were) in your private domain.

      2. I'd be interested in working on this as well, since i have a long-standing interest in collecting early modern military firearems. I think the various weapon types, like swords, rifles, handguns, and knives, to just list the major small arms, would need their own domains, as the schemata for each weapon type would probably be fairly complex and wouldn't necessarily overlap. Fortunately there are some good reference works to start from, like Jane's Infantray Weapons.
