Truth and Method (Wahrheit und Methode) is the major philosophical work by Hans-Georg Gadamer, first published in 1960. The book draws heavily on the work of Wilhelm Dilthey, and Roman hermeneutics. It rejects as unachievable the goal of objectivity, and instead suggests that meaning is created through intersubjective communication. The book is regarded as Gadamer's magnum opus, and has influenced many philosophers, notably Jurgen Habermas. full article at wikipedia
