Franco Salvetti holds a position as Natural Language Scientist at Powerset, Inc. with responsibility on the scientific aspects related to Web Search Technologies, and Human-Computer Interaction. Previously as a research scientist at Umbria Inc. he worked on projects involving Information Extraction, Sentiment Analysis, Text Analysis and Graph Theory. Prior to this, he worked for Google in the area of Relation Extraction, IBM Research on a project about Social Network Analysis, Bioserve Space Technology and various start-up companies in Italy. Salvetti earned a Laurea degree 110/110 Summa cum Laude in Information Science at the University of Milan (Italy), and a MS in Computer Science with GPA 4.0/4.0 from the University of Colorado at Boulder (USA). He is currently working on his Ph.D. with Prof. James H. Martin at the University of Colorado at Boulder. Salvetti frequently publishes within different scientific areas such as Artificial Intelligence, Natural Language Processing, the Semantic Web, Chaos Theory, and Social Network Analysis. He has been invited by HP Labs Palo Alto to present his work about the Semantic Web, and by the Association of Computational Linguistics to present his work on Sentiment Analysis. Salvetti continues to be involved in professional associations such as American Association for Artificial Intelligence and Association for Computational Linguistics and he has been serving in the program committee of numerous international conferences.
