The Lord of the Rings film trilogy consists of three live action fantasy epic film: The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (2001), The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers (2002) and The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King (2003) (often abbreviated to LotR, FotR, TTT, and RotK). The trilogy is based on the three-volume book The Lord of the Rings by J. R. R.
